Solution Summary

  • Nippon Shokubai 's polyethyleneimine ethoxylate "PN-100" adsorbs to anionic pigments and improves water wettability.

  • In addition to the dispersibility-imparting effect of steric repulsion, it also has excellent water solubility and high compatibility with other components such as binders.

  • Improved pigment dispersion and ink stability

Improves the stability of water-based pigment inks through its adsorption and dispersibility effects on anionic pigments

A member of the development department, who had been gathering information, accessed the page for Nippon Shokubai 's polyethyleneimine ethoxylate "PN-100" that came up in a web search. Mr. S, who was interested in the contents of the product page, immediately contacted Nippon Shokubai to discuss the current issues. We decided to have them explain PN-100 and provide a sample at a later date.

"According to the explanation from Nippon Shokubai representative, the water-soluble polymer PN-100 adsorbs to anionic pigments, improving their wettability and providing dispersibility through steric repulsion. It also has excellent water-solubility and is highly compatible with other components such as binders," said Mr. S.

Mr. S. immediately began prototyping ink using the sample provided, and was amazed at the finished product.
It is an easy-to-handle water-based ink with very stable physical properties, which improved the pigment dispersion and improved the ink stability.
We immediately had our clients evaluate this pigment ink, and received favorable feedback, citing an improvement in printer nozzle clogging and more vivid color characteristics.

We are currently working on further improvements with advice from Nippon Shokubai in preparation for mass production.
