While searching for a solution, M heard about Nippon Shokubai 's polyethyleneimine ethoxylate "PN-100" from a researcher she knew at a meeting. She immediately contacted Nippon Shokubai to discuss her current issues, and was told that they would provide her with an explanation of PN-100 and a sample at a later date.
"As I listened to the explanation, my desire to evaluate PN-100 grew stronger. PN-100 has already been widely adopted for laundry detergent applications. I was hoping for an effect of increasing cleaning power (boosting effect) by coexisting with synthetic anionic surfactants. I was also interested in its features, such as high blending stability with various surfactants and a high degree of freedom in blend design due to its low inhibition of the efficacy of other ingredients." The addition of PN-100 lowers the critical micelle formation concentration, a basic property of surfactants, and allows the surface tension reduction ability to be maintained even when the surfactant concentration is reduced. In addition, because it has excellent compatibility with cleaning agent solutions with high surfactant concentrations, it is possible to increase the concentration of the cleaning agent. As a result, it is expected that the same high cleaning performance as before will be maintained even if the amount of synthetic anionic surfactants used, which are of concern due to their impact on the environment, is reduced.

M was immediately provided with the product and tested it. She then saw a solution to the problem of maintaining the cleaning performance that had been so unsuccessful up until then. She had other members look at the results of several tests, and the results were excellent. Although some adjustments were necessary, it seemed possible to guarantee the cleaning performance that was initially targeted. In addition, the concentration of the cleaning agent exceeded the planned value, and it was expected that the container would be made more compact.

M felt that the PN-100 was a good fit, and is currently undergoing final evaluation and verification before commercializing it.
